Separate treatment, final fill, and charging with project-specified glycol, inhibitors, or other chemistry establish the required closed-loop water conditions.

Fabrication leaves behind cutting oils, drawing compounds, weld discoloration, and mill debris that mechanical flushing may not fully remove. Javelin applies engineered cleaning solutions — selected for the pipe material, contaminant profile, and project specification — to dissolve and suspend these residues. Each cleaning cycle is followed by a documented rinse to a project-defined endpoint.
Where specified, stainless-steel passivation removes free iron from the surface and supports the formation of a thin, transparent chromium oxide passive layer that resists corrosion. This is a chemical surface treatment — not a coating. Passivation does not establish stable bulk-water chemistry, which is addressed separately through treatment, final fill, and fluid charging.
Once surfaces are clean and, where specified, passivated, Javelin performs final fill and charges the system with the project-specified fluid — glycol, corrosion inhibitors, biocides, or other chemistry — to establish the initial closed-loop water conditions defined by the specification. Water chemistry management through commissioning falls under the project's water treatment scope unless otherwise agreed.
Where a project references a standard, chemical cleaning and passivation are performed to that specification — commonly ASTM A380/A380M (cleaning and descaling) and ASTM A967/A967M (passivation) — tied to the particular process and project requirement.
Chemical cleaning and passivation are typically sequenced with mechanical flushing and, where applicable, stainless-steel pre-passivation.
